- I checked the Raritan river last night at
Duke Island Park, near Raritan, NJ.
This stretch of the Raritan mixes fast
shallow water with deeper slower moving
water. The insect hatches towards
evening were very sparse with only an occasional
mayfly emerging. No rises were
seen. By nature, the river is suited
for smallmouth bass, carp and panfish,
however NJ's DEP stocks thousands of trout yearly.
A few foot long carp were seen schooled up
along the banks in deeper pools.

- I fly fished the Blackwater River for Atlantic
salmon. The Blackwater River is
located within the Blackwater region just
northeast of Cork, Ireland. Look for
future posts for the next Quarterly for
further trip details...more to come.

Blackwater Lodge located outside of Cork,
